I’m making this soup for dinner tonight. I couldn’t find fava beans so I just used great Northern beans. They are seeming to take longer than the fava to cook and are more dense, considering their smaller size. Two cups of fava beans probably equates to half the number of beans in two cups of Northern beans. Does that make sense? I’m not sure it does. It’s science, I think....

A lot of Free People summer stuff is strictly beach, which is limiting. This, however, should be on me. All summer. Or better yet, i’ll find something like it for 1/10 of the price.

I’m so happy to be back in Charlotte after a week-long trip to New York. I’m not sufficiently organized to travel with a two-year old for much longer than a week. I’d say that’s the tipping point. Seven days. I forgot the book I was reading at home, “Henry and June,” so I bought an Isabel Allende book called “Island Beneath the Sea,” at the airport....
