Anonymous asked: Hello Misha, i was raised a vegetarian but have never really been consistent with taking supplements to keep healthy, what supplements would you consider to be good? or use yourself?
It’s hard to say because everyone’s body is different. The only thing I can say with certainty is that someone on a full vegan diet needs to supplement B12. Other than that it’s best to ask the doctor to be sure. I don’t doubt a very healthy and well balanced diet could provide everything our bodies need, but who eats a perfect diet? So I take a chewable mutli-vitamin, calcium with vitamin D, a large B12 every few days and acidophilus every few days. I think it’d be best to get a full physical / blood test and ask your doctor what’s up. I did last year and my doc told me I was low on VitD (big surprise considering it was the middle of the winter). VitD is thought to help prevent colds, so it’s important to know what you’re lacking or think you might not be getting enough of, as well as what systems and functions certain vitamins help support in your body. There are tons of websites and charts online that show the link from vitamins to foods as well as vitamins and what they help keep functioning properly in the body. Here’s a thorough list from a reliable source. Hope this helps!
